Reimagining our City: Vision of a Healthier and Safer Timmins for All

On April 6, 2021, City Council adopted Timmins' Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. The goal of the plan is to reinforce that Timmins' is a great place to live, work and play by identifying areas of improvement necessary to the safety and well-being of All residents.

About the Plan

Timmins' Community Safety and Well-Being Plan provides a framework for organizations and groups across many different sectors to work together to help make Timmins thrive.

Over 40 organizations representing emergency services, government, social service providers, and school boards helped develop the plan as a single, active document representing what we All envision for our city. This plan provides the framework to achieve our basic needs of health care, education, housing, social and cultural diversity, and nourishment.

Focus Areas

1. Provide a unified and innovative community approach to end homelessness

2. Improve the care, respect, and outcomes for mental health and addictions

3. Develop a youth-focused community that improves the well-being, inclusivity, resiliency, pride and success of all Timmins' youth

4. Encourage a shared responsibility and effort to improve the safety and well-being of all residents

5. Help to eradicate gender-based violence (GBV) through comprehensive strategies that encompass prevention, support, and education, for the purpose of fostering a safe and equitable society.

It is strongly believed that by realizing these 5 strategic priorities, other "on the radar" issues of community safety and well-being will also benefit.

The success of Timmins' Community Safety and Well-Being Plan will only be realized if Timmins' residents see our City's safety and well-being as a shared responsibility. Your feedback is important.
