Algonquin Blvd. from Wilcox St. to Cedar St. (Segment 6/7 of the Connecting Link Project) is the third downtown segment scheduled for reconstruction and will move work into the member boundaries of the Downtown BIA. The downtown sections of the Connecting Link are top priority due to the age of the infrastructure and the pipe in this location, tying into the trunk sanitary and trunk storm systems. Segment 6 and 7 are part of an approved three (3) year plan ending just west of Brunette Rd. and including removal of the overpass bridge and installation of a new snowmobile crossing (in 2024).
Work in 2023 will begin by finishing a small portion of Segment 6 from Wilcox St. through the Mountjoy St. intersection, before moving onto Segment 7. This year's construction includes full-depth reconstruction of the roadway, replacement of underground services like water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, and pole relocation.
Once construction begins, detour signs will be clearly visible. We are asking motorists to proceed with caution when traveling through any and all construction areas to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Please anticipate delays.
