Electric bikes or e-bikes are equipped with an electric bike motor to help with pedaling so you can ride farther and faster than on a traditional bike. But how fast is too fast?
E-bikes follow the same rules as standard bikes. Ride with traffic. Avoid using the sidewalk where prohibited under municipal bylaw. Wear a helmet - it's mandatory if you're riding on a highway.
E-bikes can't have modifications that make the bike go faster than 32km/h. The battery output can't exceed 500 watts. The e-bike can't weigh more than 120 kg. If you modify the bike, it's classified as a motor vehicle and you need a driver's license and insurance to ride one.

REMINDER: Jubilee Ave. has been re-designated as a three lane road with a centre two-way left turn lane with dedicated bike lanes that will help make biking more safe and accessible through a busy residential and school zone. The centre two-way left turn lane will be used by both vehicle and cyclists to turn left safely.
