Bike Lanes

In Timmins, dedicated bike lanes have been added along sections of Theriault Blvd. and Jubilee Ave.  Bike Lanes improve road safety for cyclists, drivers and pedestrians by giving cyclists a dedicated place in the roadway. Bike lanes can be used by bikes and e-bikes, with cyclists riding with traffic in the same direction as vehicles.

The solid white line along the bike lane separates the bike lane from the lane used by motor vehicles. At the end of each bike lane, the line becomes dotted to indicate the bike lane is ending.

Bike Lane Safety Tips:

  1.  Motorists are not permitted to drive or park in designated bike lanes.
  2.  Motorists turning through a bike lane must yield to cyclists going straight ahead.
  3.  Motorists turning through a bike lane need to watch for cyclists in the bike lane that are in front, behind, or beside them before making the turn.
  4.  Cyclists should stay behind right-turning vehicles. Do not stop in a vehicle's blind spot.
