Algonquin Blvd. West from Mattagami
Blvd South to Theriault Blvd. (Segment 5 of the Connecting Link Project) is the first downtown segment
scheduled for reconstruction.
Work on Segment 5 of the Connecting Link includes full-depth reconstruction of the roadway, replacement of underground services like water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, and pole relocation.
Estimated construction cost for Segment 5 is $7.2M. The construction duration is expected to be from April to October, 2021.
The work will be extensive and, as construction proceeds, all local traffic and cyclists will be re-routed along Mattagami Blvd. South to Wilson Ave. Commercial trucks will be redirected along Lafleur Rd.
Once construction begins, detour signs will be clearly visible. We are asking motorists to proceed with caution when traveling through any and all construction areas to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Please anticipate delays.
The full Segment 5 project includes 4 phases of construction. You can view each stage of construction and detour information by clicking the links in the left-side menu.
The Timmins Connecting Link is one of the largest in the province, including just over 21 km of highway. It is funded through the Ministry of Transportation's Connecting Link Program, which helps municipalities repair their roadways and bridges that connect two ends of a provincial highway through a community or to a border crossing.
