The City of Timmins is expediting Connecting Link construction by completing two separate Connecting Link projects in 2024.
Two bridges within in the City's Connecting Link corridor will be rehabilitated in 2024, with work completed on the Mattagami River Bridge and Porcupine River Bridge. Both bridges are the only two bridge structures along the Connecting Link, constructed in the 1990s, and both requiring some remedial work to extend their end of life.
Rehabilitation includes, but is not limited to, full asphalt replacement, waterproofing, concrete sidewalk and barrier wall, pedestrian railing, structure steel, and concrete remediation. Work will be completed on both bridges at the same time to expedite construction.
Traffic on both bridges will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of work. Motorists can expect some delays and traffic congestion, but no lengthy road closures. Any temporary closure of Mattagami Blvd. S. will be communicated as scheduled.
