Timmins Youth Connect

Efforts are being made to address challenges and barriers in the City of Timmins so that ALL youth residing in Timmins may reach their full potential. Timmins Youth Connect (TYC) increases engagement, participation and increased opportunities for youth to connect to the community.

Quarter 4 - October - December 2023

Timmins Youth Connect

Timmins Youth Connect (TYC) continued its commitment to fostering a supportive environment for local youth and young adults. Throughout Q4, a total of 18 youth and young adults participated in activities.

Quarter 3 - July - September 2023

Timmins Youth Connect resumed in September however throughout the July and August months, hours were spent brainstorming, strategizing and setting goals. To truly connect with the youth, engagement would be required in the community. Offering accessible locations, flexible schedules to accommodate availability and activities that are not only informative but enjoyable encourages active participation and retention. A total of 7 individuals (including adults) attended the event in September.

Timmins Youth Wellness Hub

A range of services & supports for youth ages 12-25 are offered through various service pathways at the Timmins Youth Wellness Hub. Located centrally at 45 Spruce Street South, the "Hub" offers services such as 'Skills and Well-Being Activities', 'Youth Wellness Team Services' and 'Community and Social Support Services'.

The Skills and Wellbeing activities, such as learning workshops, leisure activities, and Indigenous and cultural programming, are attracting many youth. Spaces and activities are curated by age (12 -17 & 18-25).

Quarter 4 - October - December 2023

Timmins Youth Wellness Hub attendance for skills and well-being visits increased from 219 in October to 315 in December. The activities provide youth a gateway for accessing additional resources and support services. By participating in these activities, youth engage with trained staff who can effectively identify their needs and initiate a preventative approach to addressing mental health and wellness challenges.

Graduation Rates

The percentages include numbers from the District of the 4 local school boards. The four-year and five-year graduation rate is calculated as the percentage of students who receive an OSSD within four or five years of starting Grade 9.

Grad Rates

Le Conseil scolaire catholique de district des Grandes Rivières had a graduation rate of 91% (within 4 years) for the 2020-2021 as compared to the provincial average of 84%.
