Timmins is a great place to experience the thrill of snowmobiling. Nothing beats the excitement of a fast snowmobile and well-groomed trail! Timmins' boasts a landscape that is a true sledders' paradise.
But getting from point A to point B sometimes means you've got to take to the City streets. On this page you'll find everything you need to get around Timmins and make sure you're in full compliance of Timmins' By-law 2020-8499, which regulates the operation of snow machines in our community. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the full by-law, but in the meantime, here are 5 quick facts that you need to know:
- Your ride ends at 10:00 p.m. There is no riding your snow machine on city streets between 10:00 p.m. at night and 7:00 a.m. the next morning.
- You need to be 16+ and possess a valid driver's licence or snowmobile licence to ride.
- You need to reduce your speed to no more than 20 kilometers while riding on city streets.
- You will need to obtain a trail permit from the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC).
- When the OFSC trails are closed, access to city streets is prohibited.
Another great resource for Timmins' riders is the Timmins Snowmobile Club. This charitable organization maintains many of the trails surrounding our community and gives you up-to-date information on trail conditions, weather and routes.
