Spring Clean Up Rules and Schedule

What’s happening for 2018?

The City of Timmins is providing a Spring Cleanup Program in 2018. The collection of spring cleanup material will run from Tuesday May 22, 2018 to Friday June 1, 2018. Check the detailed schedule posted below.

What are the rules for Spring Cleanup 2018?

Residents participating in the Spring Cleanup Program are required to comply with the following requirements approved by Council.

1. Volume of material to be collected per residence: Limited to no more than half a standard HALF TON (½) pick-up truck or approximately 60 cubic feet (1.6 cu. M).

2. Materials which will NOT be collected:

2.1. Concrete and asphalt (can be disposed of at Deloro Landfill)
2.2. Batteries of any type (can be disposed of during Hazardous Waste Day, June 16, 2018 at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex)
2.3. Tires (can be disposed of at Deloro Landfill)
2.4. Electronics (can be disposed of at Deloro Landfill and/or Hazardous Waste Day)
2.5. Propane tanks (can be disposed of during Hazardous Waste Day)
2.6. White goods or items that contain Freon (can be disposed of through private recycling firms)
2.7. Recyclables (can be disposed of at Deloro Landfill, Tisdale Transfer Site and German Township Landfill)
2.8. Paints/liquids/fuels/chemicals (can be disposed of during Hazardous Waste Day)
2.9 Mattresses or Box Springs that are not securely wrapped in plastic (can be disposed of at Deloro Landfill)

3. When will collection crews go by?: Collection crews will only do one (1) pass through an area.

4. When do I put my material out?: Residents are to have their material at the curb no more than two (2) days prior to their scheduled collection day.

5. All containers (cans/recycle boxes) with waste will be collected with the waste. Do not put out containers (i.e. garbage bins) with the Spring Cleanup Pile unless you want to get rid of the container.

6. MATTRESSES and BOX SPRINGS: All mattresses and box springs MUST be securely wrapped in plastic in order to be picked up. NOTE: This is a Health and Safety issue.

7. What happens if material is not acceptable: Material not in compliance with the guidelines will not be collected. The resident will be required to remove such material from the street within 48 hours.

8. Are leaves and yard waste acceptable: Yes leaves and yard waste are acceptable. Please ensure that all lawn and leaf waste is bagged in compostable bags. DO NOT BAG IN REGULAR PLASTIC BAGS. Separate clean wood in a separate pile from the rest of Spring Cleanup materials.

9. Tipping fees at the Deloro Landfill WILL be waived: For Residential Users only, during the 2018 Spring Cleanup from May 22 to June 1.

Pickup Location and Times


  • May 22, 2018 - All areas North of Ross & Jubilee, starting at Airport Road and working Eastward to HWY 655 including Tschupruk, Kraft Creek and Lefebvre.
  • May 24, 2018 - All areas North of Algonquin Blvd and South of Jubilee and Ross, Starting at Gillies Lake and working West to Domtar.
  • May 28, 2018 - All areas South of Algonquin Blvd, starting at Mattagami River, working Eastward


  • May 30, 2018 - All of Mountjoy Area, West of Mattagami River including the Dalton and Kamiskotia area

South Porcupine

  • May 22, 2018 - Starting on Legion Drive, heading Easterly including South Porcupine and Connaught Hill up to the stoplights at Ferguson/Rekela.


  • May 25, 2018 - All of Schumacher through Gold Centre and all of Goldmine Road (Delnite, MacDonald Hill, Buffalo Ankerite).

Porcupine and Connaught

  • May 29, 2018 - Starting at the stoplights at Ferguson/Rekela, heading Easterly through Porcupine, Bob’s Lake, Connaught and Barber’s Bay

NOTE: Residents are to have their material at the curb no more than two (2) days prior to their collection day.
